What is Athlete's Foot?
Athlete's foot, medically called tinea pedis, is a superficial fungal infection that commonly affects the skin between the toes and the soles or sides of the feet. It develops more easily in warm, moist environments, especially when feet remain sweaty or damp for long periods.
The infection may cause itching, scaling, peeling, redness or cracking and can spread through contaminated floors, footwear, towels or direct skin contact.

How Athlete's Foot Spreads
Understanding transmission vectors is key to preventing reinfection and protecting your household.
Damp Public Areas
Barefoot contact with wet floors in gyms, locker rooms, pools or communal showers.
Shared Footwear
Sharing shoes, socks or slippers can transfer fungal organisms.
Towels & Mats
Fungi may spread through contaminated towels, bath mats or similar personal items.
Sweaty Feet
Tight, poorly ventilated footwear and prolonged moisture create favourable conditions for fungal growth.
